While performing to the best of its ability, the Nissan Frontier was getting a little long in the tooth. A decade and a half since its last redesign, the Frontier got a much-needed upgrade for the 2022 model year. The new third-generation truck now features a modern design inside and out.
Overview
The Nissan logo and the Frontier nameplate are the only things that remain on the third-generation mid-size pickup truck. The new and improved version upgrades almost every aspect, bringing popular technology inside and bold bodywork outside.
What’s New for 2022
The only thing that remains the same from the second-generation Frontier is the frame, which dates back to the early 2000s. Nissan changed every other part of the Frontier, improving it from the ground up with a new suspension, body, cabin environment, technology, and more.
Models and Pricing
Starting at $39,998, the 2022 Nissan Frontier is offered in five model varieties in Ottawa and across Canada: S, SV, SV Convenience, SV Sport, and Pro-4X. While four models are available with a crew cab configuration, the base model S is only available in a King Cab configuration with a long bed (1,861mm). Standard features include an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, intelligent cruise control, and automatic intelligent emergency braking with pedestrian detection.

.
The Pro-4X model offers off-road capability to drivers that want to take the roads less traveled by adding all-terrain tires, off-road performance shock absorbers, underbody skid plates, and an electronic locking rear differential.
Design
Inside and out, the 2022 Frontier received modern design updates. Inside, the Frontier features soft-touch surfaces and modern trim pieces as well as a large 7.0-inch digital display in place of analog gauges.
Infotainment
Drivers of all models of the 2022 Frontier will enjoy a touchscreen infotainment system that comes standard with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and charging ports. An 8.0-inch display is present on all models except the Pro-4X, which has an upgraded 9.0-inch display.
