2021 Nissan Versa - What to Expect

2021 Nissan Versa - What to Expect

While so many articles and lists are focused on the best SUVs, it is easy to overlook a major automobile category--sedans. Today's sedans are not the boat-like sedans of old with no acceleration and enough length to take up two parking spaces.

One of the most modern and stylish subcompact sedans available today is the 2021 Nissan Versa. Completely redesigned in 2020, its meteoric rise to the top of its category is well-deserved.

What's New for 2021?

Nissan completely redesigned the Versa in 2020, so there were no changes to the latest model year. The only update was to the price--each model increased in price by $100. The 2021 Nissan Versa is available in three model configurations: S, SV, and SR. While the S is the entry-level model, it has plenty to offer, including connected technology, generous space, and efficient performance. The manual transmission S starts at $16,498 while the automatic S model (featuring the Xtronic continuously variable transmission (CVT)) starts at $17,998.

The Versa SV offers eye-catching updates as the middle-of-the-road model, including a 7-inch touchscreen, more premium interior, and 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels in a $19,498 price tag. The premium Versa SR is the boldest model and offers impressive updates such as bigger rims, better seats, and a sleek rear spoiler.

Interior & Engine

Though it is but little, the Versa is fierce with its 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine that delivers no-nonsense acceleration, exceptional fuel economy, and plenty of power for its size. This includes 122 horsepower, 114 lb-ft of torque, and fuel economy as low as 5.9 L/100km. With its recent redesign, drivers should expect a more upscale feel to the Versa's interior. No longer childlike, Nissan upgraded the interior materials to soft-touch surfaces on the doors and dashboard, giving the Versa a sleek and modern cabin environment. Surprisingly spacious for both cargo and passengers, the Versa offers several useful interior storage cubbies, can fit two adults comfortably in the backseat and offers 416 litres of cargo capacity.

Safety

Nissan has always made its dedication to safety clear in its vehicle designs, and the 2021 Versa is no different. The Versa not only offers 10 airbags throughout the vehicle and LATCH outlets in the rear seats, but it also comes standard with the Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite of driver-assist technologies. The 2021 Versa outshines the competition by offering intelligent emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot warning, lane departure warning, and high beam assist standards on all models.

Why do We Care?

A full 2021 Nissan Versa review tells drivers that what they should expect from this recently redesigned model is a great value. A subcompact sedan is not an option for all drivers, but it is something easily overlooked by those who could use it. For less than $17,000, drivers are getting plenty of space, amazing fuel economy, and many of the latest high-tech features that would cost thousands more in a different vehicle.

For drivers that want to see the value and feel the power for themselves, Myers Ottawa Nissan offers a full collection of 2021 Nissan Versa models.
